More individuals may soon expect a visit from the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC), the anti-graft body has indicated.

In a statement yesterday, the ICPC said judges and officials of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) may soon come under its scrutiny.

According to the statement by the commission's Head of Public Enlightenment, Mr. Mike Sowe, an operation to that effect code named 'Special Squad" was in line with Section 8 and 9 of the ICPC Act of 2000.

The sting operation, which is part of measure to make ICPC more proactive and block all the loopholes for the perpetration of corruption in all sectors of our national life," will also beam its searchlight on officials of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), admission officials in higher institutions and health workers."

According to the statement, other officials to be targeted are security and law enforcement agents in police, immigration, customs, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), State Security Service (SSS), Navy, Army, National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and Civil Defence," the statement added.

Sowe also said operatives of the anti-corruption commission "would be deployed to target offices such as recruitment/employment officers, officers in charge of awarding contracts, issuing permit and drivers' licence."
