Marthina Okeke, Nigerian slave stranded in New York, USA. She has sued her traffickers and masters for 12 years of unpaid labor. |
New York, June 29, 2008--An associate of individuals sued by Mrs. Marthina Okeke (a/k/a, Mrs. Stella Marthina Okereke) has threatened that Mrs. Marthina Okeke and her witnesses will not be able to testify in the upcoming trial.
This threat was among others issued by the associate when he ambushed the Executive Director of Africans In America, Inc., Mr. Bonaventure Ezekwenna, on June 27, 2008 at about 11.00 p.m. in New York, United States. In clear attempt to intimidate witnesses and supporters of the 70 tears old stranded slave suing her former masters, the associate stated that he used to do all kinds of things in the past, and that he is a very rough guy ready to unleash at anytime.
The associate is a Nigerian immigrant living in New York City. He is reportedly known to have contacted potential witnesses in Mrs. Okeke’s pending human trafficking civil suit and he had attempted to intimidate them. He had also reportedly been passing threatening messages through third party to potential witnesses in the case. He is reportedly unhappy at the support Africans In America, Inc. had through its Executive Director been giving the stranded and grossly exploited old woman.
Also, on June 20, 2008, the associate had ambushed Africans In America, Inc. Executive Director, Mr. Ezekwenna, when he visited Mrs. Okeke at her residence. During the encounter, the associate stated that he was there to see Mrs. Okeke, but made no threats at that time. His visit terrified other tenants living in the basement apartment with Mrs. Okeke and they expressed concerned for their safety, as well as the safety of Mrs. Okeke prompting them to suggest that Mrs. Okeke should be moved to a safe location. Mrs. Okeke and other potential witnesses had also received third-party threats from other associates about plans to harm their relatives in Nigeria.
Africans In America News Watch investigation reveals that the associates may be secretly using certain tenant/s sharing basement apartment with Mrs. Okeke to get information on Mrs. Okeke, monitor her movement and filter intimidating threatening messages.
The ambush and threats communicated to Mr. Bonaventure Ezekwenna, the Executive Director of Africans In America, Inc. on June 27, 2008 had been reported to New York Police Department.
